Waiting for the May day.

The generosity of the Fast Forward 2012 scheme is enabling me to attend a painting expedition to Wilpena Pound, South Australia to explore the Flinders Ranges during May.

The expedition will be led by Emma Walker - an abstract landscape painter who will guide a small group of artists on a Plein Air based expedition traversing  the incredible beauty of one of the earth's oldest landscapes.

I hope to achieve many different outcomes based on different reasons.  A richer colour palette inspired by the Flinders Rangers 800 million year old quartzite and limestone outcrop will help to shape my future painting as will the textures and shapes of the national parks geological formations.

The paint tubes are lined up like soldiers, the rolls of paper sit anxiously, and the sharpened pencils, charcoal and graphite sticks are ready.
